Welcome to Cool Schools: ICT

If you stumble upon something bad on The Net, don't panic!

What to do if you or your students access a web page that is undesirable or possibly illegal:

  • Turn off the monitor (not the computer) - this will give you thinking time and remove the offensive material from view. If a student is involved relocate him/her (maybe work with a partner).

  • Report the URL of the site to the NGfL helpdesk
(tel: 200 6457) - they will block access to the site from the main server.

  • Visit the Internet Watch Foundation web site and you can make a formal report to the body monitoring material on the internet.

  • Inform ICT Coordinator / member of Senior Management Team.

  • Complete an internet incident report - this is for your own protection against investigation by the LEA at a future time (The Council have the right to check on all the web sites accessed via the North Tyneside Grid for Learning).
